The New Brunswick Legal Aid Services Commission (NBLASC) is seeking an individual to join Public Trustee Services in Fredericton as a Financial Reporting Accountant.

Public Trustee services also administers the estates of deceased and missing persons and protects the financial interests of children in certain matters. What you will do

Reporting to CFO/Director of Corporate Services, the Financial Reporting Accountant will work closely with the Manager of Trust Accounting and Taxation and will assist the Public Trustee team by:

  • Assist with the preparation of the Annual Financial Statements and Audit File;
  • Lead the preparation and compilation of the Annual Financial Report, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards;
  • Review monthly bank reconciliations;
  • Review monthly variance analysis;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance the case management system;
  • Assist with annual T5, Trust Return, and Personal Income Tax filings;
  • Participate in and / or lead Special Projects;
  • Other accounting duties as assigned.

Need to have (Essential qualifications and skills)

  • Chartered Professional Accountant
  • Bachelor's degree or post-secondary diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • A minimum of five (5) years of related experience

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate:

  • High proficiency in the area of office technology and MS Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).

Salary range

$63,700 - $88,972 Annually, Pay Band 5 – Management and Non-Union Pay Plan
