We are looking for a Senior Manager, Assurance (Detail File Reviewer) to join our National Assurance Team; the role will report into the Director, Assurance. The position is internally focused, and can be a remote, or hybrid position. The Senior Manager, Assurance (Detail File Reviewer) will focus on the growth and development of future CPAs, strong assurance team members and quality engagements that meet all required CPA and Firm standards.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Detailed file reviews for both review and audit engagements under various reporting frameworks – ASPE, ASNPO, PSAS, special reporting
  • Involvement in planning and budgeting for engagements
  • Support throughout the engagement and completion of the engagement to meet all standards – both CPA and internal firm standards
  • Mentoring and coaching staff on a virtual platform throughout the individual engagement
  • Collaborating with all offices to help them achieve exceptional client service through the management of capacity at the Firm level
  • Identifying opportunities for efficiencies with the assurance engagement process
  • Research in relation to new or changing Canadian standards for both accounting and assurance and presenting information to staff
  • Support the Director of Assurance in relation to developing and implementation of standardization within the assurance department.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or currently working towards completion
  • Continued professional development in the areas of ASPE, ASNPO, PSAS and CAS
  • Minimum of 3 years of extensive detailed file review experience of both audit and review engagements
  • Solid understanding of quality control and public accounting
  • Significant practical experience in Canadian accounting frameworks – ASPE, ASNPO and PSAS
  • Significant practical experience of CAS and Other Canadian Standards
  • Strong knowledge of audited and reviewed financial statements
  • Experience with mentorship and delivery of development feedback within the engagement process; and
  • Special consideration will be given to specialization in the areas of Not-for-Profits or Public Sector accounting • Ability to mentor, coach and develop junior staff
