We are looking for a Senior Accountant at Mrs. Dunster’s. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in preparing financial reports at our head office. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing valuable insights to support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Month-End Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all month-end balance sheet account reconciliations, resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner;
  • Variance Analysis: Conduct thorough variance analysis for both expense and revenue accounts, identifying trends, outliers, and potential cost-saving opportunities;
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Provide vital support in the preparation of monthly financial statements;
  • Annual Review: Support 3rd party accounting firm in completing their annual review;
  • Take a lead role in ensuring year end statements are completed on a timely basis;
  • Forecasting and Budgeting: Assist in the preparation of quarterly forecasts and annual budgets;
  • System enhancements as needed support continuous improvement in the use of technology to streamline processes and automate manual activities including: automation of payment and receipt processes, month end inventory costing and product costing;
  • Support the senior financial analyst in preparation of the month end inventory entry and serve as vacation backup;
  • Key Performance Indicator (KPI) and New Business Opportunity Analysis: Perform in-depth analysis and reporting of KPIs, business cases and new opportunity evaluations , presenting actionable insights and recommendations to enhance financial performance;
  • Process Improvement: Continuously seek opportunities to enhance accounting processes and streamline financial operations, contributing to increased efficiency and accuracy;
  • Data Integrity: Maintain data accuracy and integrity within the financial systems, ensuring the quality and reliability of financial information.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field;
  • CPA designation is highly desirable;
  • Proven experience as a Senior Accountant in a manufacturing or related industry;
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices;
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
