Overview

The Department of Health is responsible for the delivery of New Brunswick’s public drug plans. The Inspection Review Committee (the Committee) draws its authority from the Prescription and Catastrophic Drug Insurance Act, the Prescription Drug Payment Act and their respective regulation and has responsibilities for the review of audits performed on pharmacy providers under the New Brunswick Drug Plan and the New Brunswick Prescription Drug Program. 
The Committee is composed of four members: a Chair and three pharmacists. It meets to review appeals of audit decisions and confirms, sets aside, or varies the audit findings. Committee support is provided by staff of the Department of Health. 

Current position(s) to be filled

The provincial government is currently seeking to fill the position of Chair for the Committee.

Expressions of interest received for this position may also be used to fill future vacancies.

Qualifications / Commitment:

To be considered for the position of Chair of the Committee, candidates must 

  • be a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA); 
  • be a resident of New Brunswick.

Applicants must have experience sitting on boards or administrative tribunals. They must also demonstrate they can analyze and assimilate complex information. Good communications skills are also required.

Essential and Asset Qualifications

The composition of the Committee’s gender and linguistic representation, as well as the cultural and geographic diversity of the province is a consideration for appointment.  

Conditions / Compensation

The Committee meets as required, within 60 days of the receipt of a request to review an audit decision. The Chair receives a per diem of $250.00 per meeting day and is reimbursed for travel and other appropriate expenses in accordance with Government of New Brunswick Travel Policy.

Term

The Chair of the Committee may hold office for a term of up to three years and is eligible for reappointment. The Chair shall serve more than two consecutive terms.
