Invitation to Participate in a PhD Research Study on the Influence of Emotional Intelligence on the Career Success of CPAs
Take the steps to measure your EI and unravel the answers. Join this relevant & timely research study by one of your peers and help shape the CPA profession!
As an accountant, you understand the power of numbers for “what gets measured gets managed” (Peter Drucker). Take the opportunity to measure your EI with an instrument chosen for its externally validated predictive validity and the fact that it measures EI as exhibited in workplace behaviours. Join others who are helping shape the accounting profession by providing invaluable insights needed to understand how EI impacts the career success of an accountant in Canada.
EI is increasingly recognized as essential for leadership, communication, and long-term career growth.
Yet, there is a lack of conclusive empirical evidence regarding how EI specifically impacts an accountant's success. Your help is critical! You hold the keys to this evidence.
By taking part, you will not only help shape the future of the CPA profession, but you will also:
- Gain insights of EI work-related behaviours impacting your career success as a CPA;
- Discover your own EI profile – strengths and areas for growth;
- Provide and get data to help you understand how your EI compares with that of your peers;
- Contribute to meaningful research that will help guide future training, development, and support for accountants across Canada;
- Get a chance to win a $100 Visa Card (a token of our appreciation).
Please take the opportunity to invest about 15 minutes of your time to reflect and make a meaningful contribution to yourself and your profession.

About the researcher
Meet Jenipher Chitate, MBA, CPA, CMA who is spearheading groundbreaking research that has potential to impact the CPA Profession. You are invited to let your voice be counted in this research!! The research, exploring the role of emotional intelligence (EI) in the career success of CPAs, is part of her PhD in Leadership degree at Andrews University. Join others who have taken her survey and whose invaluable experiences are impacting the conclusions and recommendations of the research. You will also potentially benefit from participating.
Jenipher has worked in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Alberta. Her positions have included university faculty roles, leadership roles in oil and gas industries, consulting/coaching, facilitating CPA courses, and motivational speaking. Her passion for personal growth and equipping others for success led her to uncover an existing concerning gap. That is, despite the growing acceptance of EI as key driver of career success of a CPAs, there is a lack of solid evidence to show exactly how EI influences this success. Jenipher and other experts, strongly believe it is imperative that we understand EI’s role so all stakeholders (CPAs, academia, industry, the CPA professional organizations, etc.) are better positioned to help foster the development and training of CPAs.
